A Memory of Me and You

With the wind in my hair
And the road ‘neath my wheel
I took a ride on my bike
Sometime last week
And I saw a path
That I barely remembered
And it almost brought me back to you
I’ve just a memory of me and you

Saw your mom some months past
At a restaurant on Taylor
Where we talked ’bout old times
For a while and the weather
I got your number
For the third time that year
Hoping it would lead me back to you
I’ve just a memory of me and you

Was it something I’ve done
Can I right an old wrong

Search and try as I may
My dear friend I can’t find
There’s nothing now but memories
Of our growing years
There’s a piece of my heart
I may never recover
Keep it safe and I’ll keep yours, too
I’ve just a memory of me and you
